Who This Course Is For
This course is suitable if you:
- Live, work, or interact regularly in Malay speaking environments where everyday communication affects ease and social connection
- Are a beginner or near beginner in Malay and want language you can use immediately in daily situations
- Want practical spoken communication rather than academic or classroom focused study
- Prefer language that helps you take part comfortably in everyday interaction
What You’ll Learn
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Greet people and introduce yourself politely
- Manage basic everyday conversations
- Ask for clarification and respond appropriately
- Participate in common social activities
- Understand and respond to everyday spoken Malay
The emphasis is on being understood and responding appropriately.
Typical Situations Covered
The course focuses on language used in situations such as:
- Greeting neighbours and community members
- Casual conversation and social invitations
- Eating out and everyday errands
- Handling misunderstandings politely
- Participating in festivals and community life
Course Structure & Delivery
- The course is 2 x 90 min sessions per week, for a total of 22.5 contact hours
- Live, instructor-led online classes
- Structured progression using CEFR-aligned materials
The emphasis is on social comfort and communicative confidence.
Entry Level
This course is designed for beginner learners with limited to no prior exposure to Malay.A short assessment may be recommended to ensure appropriate placement.
Assessment & Certification
Learners who complete the course may take a short post-course assessment.
Based on performance, a CEFR-aligned certificate can be issued to reflect the learner’s demonstrated level at the end of the course.
Outcomes & Next Steps
By the end of the course, learners typically:
- Feel more confident using Malay in everyday community settings
- Can participate in short social interactions without relying on English
- Are better able to navigate daily life in Malay-speaking environments
Learners who wish to continue can progress into private or other specialised courses based on their goals.

- Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be counted as attended, and no rescheduling or refund will be offered.
- In the case of only two learners enrolling, the course will be moved to a semi-private format of 20 academic hours.
