What You’ll Learn (Beginner Japanese)
Foundations (A1.1)
- Introduce yourself and exchange basic greetings
- Describe your background and talk about your family
- Use essential Japanese expressions in everyday situations
- Read and write Hiragana and Katakana, and recognise common words
- Order food and express simple preferences
Elementary (A1.2)
- Describe your home and daily routine
- Talk about your schedule and make simple plans
- Invite others and respond appropriately
- Discuss hobbies and free-time activities
- Understand everyday written Japanese (e.g. signs, posters, schedules)
Across both stages, you’ll build practical speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills for real-life communication.
Typical Real-Life Situations You’ll Handle in Japanese
- Meeting people and introducing yourself
- Talking about your life, home, and daily routine
- Ordering food in cafés and restaurants
- Making plans and social arrangements
- Discussing your interests and free-time activities
Course Structure & Delivery
- Small-group, interactive classes (3-6 learners)
- 15 × 90 minute group sessions
- Conversation-focused with guided practice
- Based on the Marugoto approach

Each session builds towards clear “can-do” communication outcomes.
Entry Level
- No prior knowledge required for beginners
(A short placement check may be used if needed.)
Assessment & Certification

- Progress tracked through practical tasks and participation, with digital materials included
- Final exam and CEFR aligned certificate included

- A minimum exam score of 70% is required for CEFR certificate issuance.
- In the case of only 2 student enrollments, the course will be converted to a semi-private format of 15 hours.
